Surf Rescue Certificate

The Surf Rescue Certificate is a stepping stone towards gaining a Bronze Medallion and provides participants with basic skills and knowledge of first aid, rescues, and CPR.

This award provides a pathway from Junior Activities to becoming a patrolling member. It is also great for parents who wish to assist with water safety during nipper programs, sports carnivals or training.

To complete this course you must be a minimum of 13 years old and be able to complete a 200 metre pool swim in less than 5 minutes.

Bronze Medallion

Gaining your Bronze Medallion will mean you are a fully qualified lifesaver. As a Bronze Medallion holder you will have the required skills and knowledge relating to surf awareness, rescue techniques, radio communication, CPR and first aid.

Upon completion of this award you will be able to patrol the beach and ensure swimmers safety. You may be required to perform rescues or educate members of the public on surf safety.

To complete this course you must be a minimum of 15 years old and be able to complete a 400 metre pool swim in less than 9 minutes.

Observer

As an Observer, you will be qualified in First Aid and able to assist on patrol in a surveillance capability.

This role is ideal for non-swimmers who still wish to be involved in surf lifesaving.

You must be 13 years of age to complete this award.
